a quick trip to tucson
on saturday, we joined forces with the whitehouse-schroeder crew and hit the road for a little half-day trip to tucson. and do we know how to pick 'em! clouds in the sky, a nice breeze, scattered showers. it was such a nice break from all that ovenesque heat. we all met up at san xavier del bac mission for some sightseeing and such. after getting our fill of that, it was off to la cocina for an early dinner before heading back home. here are some pics for your enjoyment.
this pic would be positively perfect if that darn restrooms sign didn't wreck the whole old timey feeling of it all. sigh.
pretty sure those ominous clouds made everything look better. love that white and burgundy and cadet grey.
and this sassy pants. people watching and throwing out all kinds of judgey vibes. sorry tourists.
how gorgeous is that?
the little miss enjoyed a nice combo of sling exploring and strolling along with the group. such a big girl.
i know, it is mossy junk on a rock. but so perfect! that right there is the inspiration color palette for my home when i do my next redecoration.
papa was not hurt in the taking of this picture. and we definitely do not encourage chin punching...i just caught a random moment and it was too funny.
we few of us did a little off-roading-mini-hike to get to the top of the rock...and wow! glad we did. the view was so striking.
sticky sweaty humidtastic family shot when the breeze died down and all we were left with was the nasty moisture lingering in the air.
and then, a much-deserved dinner rest at la cocina. chips and salsa and guacamole + polenta fries + ben's massive veggie burrito smothered in spicy red sauce + my quinoa bowl with braised spinach + roasted vegetables + tofu + thai peanut sauce.
and that's it, that's all.
