on date night

IMG_1469 IMG_1468 IMG_1475 IMG_1472 IMG_1470 IMG_1473 IMG_1474 IMG_1476 IMG_1471 date night with my hubby. just a few stolen hours, just me and my man. a necessary interlude. while i love our family time, it does wonders for me to get some couple time. moments for us to recharge and reflect. moments for us to plan and chit-chat and laugh. for us to just be us. it makes me a better me. and a better wife. and a better mom. just, better.

date nights may look a little different these days. they may begin with a breastfeeding session and end with diaper changes. they may not be as lengthy as they once were. they may not always be a weekend away or a fancy night out, sometimes they are just a few minutes over coffee. regardless of their form or duration, i need them. they are vital to the health of our marriage.

i want our little ones to see that mama and papa love each other and genuinely like each other. that they enjoy spending time together. that they are friends and partners. that they work at their relationship and make time to play too. i want it to be obvious that our marriage is a priority.

and i want our children to know that it is by the grace of God that our union and family unit is sustained. in Him, all things hold together.
