dear little prince

dear little prince,

well, you are still cooking away. tucked and folded into a solid ball of baby. your movements are intense and you are incredibly strong, but i can tell that you are runny low on space in there and getting ready to make your way into the world. we are officially ready and waiting for your arrival. anytime now, little one.

your family is ready. your room is ready. and this mama of yours is most definitely ready. hint, hint, hint.

and when it comes to your room...we are over the moon about your space. there are so many special little odds and ends and a week ago, we added some extra special touches.

your grandma ("neena") gave you the most beautiful quilt. i picked out a pile of fabulous fabrics a few months back and she cut them into little squares and your grandpa ("booboo") arranged them! and then, it was pieced together and sent off to the quilter for the finishing touches. it is amazing. so manly and strong and classic. rich and interesting and something that i hope you will cherish for many many years. truly, an heirloom piece. and it will be a part of our snuggle-reading-feeding times for a long time.

and then, an antique compass that belonged to your great-grandpa, harry ridley. it guided him through the perils of war and it was given to you by your grandpa. something to remind you of your rich heritage and to remind you of your true compass and polestar - Jesus Christ. it is such a generous and remarkable keepsake and we are honored to not only have it in our home, but on display for you.

Ridley Noble - may you walk humbly in the footsteps of those who have gone before you. may you strive to live a life of holiness and strength and dignity. may you live up to the Ridley, the Noble, and the Whitehouse. we expect God to do big and bold things with your life, little man.
