bébé numéro deux | 37 weeks
progress & countdown: 37 weeks down & 21 days to go. three weeks.
baby size: as long as a stalk of swiss chard.
food & drink: these days, it is really more about the drink. i am currently wanting ALL THE DRINKS. and the colder the better. if you see me out and about in the next few weeks, it will most like be with some kind of beverage in hand. baby wants extra fluid to float in, i guess. (that's how it works, right?) and ice. still loving the ice. probably because it feels good to be cool from the inside, out. summer is happening, people. hello hundreds!
bump stuff: growing and growing. he means business in there. elinor really didn't go crazy in the final month of her time in the belly. but ridley, he was saving up. and if you bump into me in the early morning and then again in the late afternoon...you can expect for the bump to look about double in size. out of control.
highs: seeing JUNE on the calendar. baby month is officially here!
lows: nothing too bad. just that pesky "last weeks" stuff. you know...pressure, the urge to waddle, the how long will this last and when exactly is he coming thoughts, and the shocking realization that he could be here any time and AM I PREPARED?!?! however, other than that stuff, things are good! i am actually pretty darn comfortable when i sleep which i really appreciate. and i have great energy. he is getting pretty big in there and likes to flip and flop which makes me queasy on occasion and forces me to change sitting positions and shift more often to avoid a swift kick to the ribs or a bum-bump to my obliques. okay, and if i could just float in the pool all day with a cool drink in hand, i would prefer that to my usual routine but hey! not too shabby over here.
new developments: the next few weeks are important for baby's lungs and brain formation...so, staying cooking! baby weighs about 6 1/3 pounds and measure a bit over 19 inches. many babies have a full head of hair at birth with locks from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches long. but, it is common for the hair to not match mama or papa. and the color and texture can change drastically in the months after birth. hair can fall out and grow in as peach fuzz or thicken and turn a completely different color.
meaningful moments & hormones & feelings: hearing the heartbeat again and hearing that he is in an ideal position and hearing that he is probably 6 + pounds now. we'll see how spot-on the experienced hands of the midwives are...but if they are right, that means he is already bigger than elinor AND he is definitely still growing.
superficial stuff: i am currently wearing dresses like nobody's business. light and breezy and flowing and comfy and not tight on the bump. the bump gets angry when that happens. and it is best to not anger the bump because you will pay for it...
looking forward to: BABY! i am excited for our birth experience and breastfeeding again and all the glorious newborness.
