le bump / 20 weeks

20 weeks

we’re half-way there.

progress & countdown: 20 weeks down & 140 days to go!

baby size: a banana (week 20 means we start measuring baby from head to toe instead of crown to rump).

food & drink: staying hydrated and nourished without over-filling myself is the name of the game. my current favorite is coconut yogurt with granola. and i am loving snacking on dates with peanut butter and celtic salt and pecans. and BIG smoothies.

bump stuff: it just keeps growing… oh my goodness! and the wiggles and movements and bumps and swirls get stronger each day. the growth explosion is REAL. at this point, it is normal to gain a pound a week so, the bump is getting serious.

highs: reaching the half-way mark of pregnancy feels amazing. and! the first nursery item arrived this week (yay for sheets) so that got me all excited for planning and prepping and nesting. trying to pace myself and wait until jan / feb.

lows: sweet / sugary stuff is a total no-go right now. i have zero desire for sweet stuff which is helping to keep the holiday desserts in balance but when i do enjoy a little something, it needs to be a little something or i feel lousy.

new developments: head to toe, baby is 10 inches long (whoa. that feels huge) and weighs roughly 11 ounces. taste buds can now transmit taste signals to the brain and perhaps, some food preferences are forming (i guess baby is going to like pomegranates and festive gourds and cheese).

meaningful moments & hormones & feelings: feeling grateful and great. soaking it in.

superficial stuff: i am trying to find a comfy sleeping position. i am a back sleeper but i am trying to shift to my side as the belly grows. it’s not my favorite.

looking forward to: designing and creating a quilt for albie with my mum.
