sojourner. truth.
i have been pondering that sojourner truth quote which says:
“i sell the shadow to support the substance.”
and it really has me considering those pursuits, places, relationships, projects, and things that are my shadows of life. subsequently, contemplating ways to shift those shadows in order to better honor and support the substantive elements of life.
sometimes it is a literal selling of the stuff.
sometimes, it is a more ethereal transaction.
sometimes, it is a simple or subtle exchange.
sometimes, it is a tangible pruning in order to allow for later flourishing.
but i want to hold all the things of my life in proper balance, giving dignity and awareness and endeavor to the meaningful, and letting the shadows float and fluctuate and hopefully, transfigure.
