a day out with a childhood friend and my children

IMG_1458 IMG_1459 IMG_1460 last week, my childhood friend, karly, came for a visit. she was attending a weekend event and decided to arrive a day early so that we could spend some time together. so glad she did. we have known each other for years and years but since she lives in canada, it makes coffee dates a bit tricky. fortunately, business often brings her our way, so we do get to enjoy a few hours together from time to time. (not often enough, though. we are working on remedying that.)

when we do manage a meet-up, boy is it fun. much coffee is consumed. and lots of food. and then there's the browsing and shopping for creative bits and bobs. we would be a dangerous pair, if we saw more of each other. and don't even get me started on how wild our kiddos would be! she has three little ones with PLENTY of personality. so, you know. that would be a raucous crew indeed. we have yet to get our whole families together in one spot... but wouldn't that be a hoot? stay tuned.

we started the morning over at desoto central market for some tea & toast. pastries and london fog lattes and coffee and the yummiest toasts with bacon jam and eggs. the best. honestly, i don't know why i don't make it a habit to eat at this spot weekly. it is a favorite, for sure. we sipped and nibbled and then went on our merry way. we visited my mum's quilt shop and did a spin through hobby lobby and made some pit stops so that ridley could eat and get some of his squiggles out and nap.

in the afternoon, we set up shop at blanco tacos + tequila. when you visit AZ, mexican food is a must. we grabbed a booth and ordered up pretty much all the dips. and then, tacos. elinor and ridley allowed us a solid couple of hours of conversation and unwinding and continued catching-up before it was time say our farewells and drop karly at her hotel for the weekend.

here's to good friends. good times. good conversation. good food. and good coffee. and many more play-dates to come!
