i have been perusing the pages of søren kierkegaard lately and have rediscovered some wonderful truths. thought-provoking and interesting stuff indeed. and as i jotted down notes and excerpts, i moved from ink on paper to the web world to seek out more quotable moments from this compelling philosopher. here's a smattering for you to read and absorb. i don't know that i have much to offer in the commentary department...but i thought they were worth sharing. and while i don't necessarily 100% line up with him theologically, there are some points of intersection. perhaps they will inspire you to consider new things or start a conversation with someone.

how absurd men are! they never use the liberties they have, they demand those they do not have. they have freedom of thought, they demand freedom of speech...people demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.

the most common form of despair is not being who you are.

to dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. not to dare is to lose oneself.

happiness is the greatest hiding place for despair.
