a nursery + a big girl room

for some reason, when i started daydreaming about a space for our new little one, only masculine things came to mind. another reason i was convinced that we were having a boy...

i put together a design board for ridley long before we knew he was a he. it came together so naturally and was so much fun to collect boy things. so, i was pretty excited when our suspicions were confirmed and we could get down to the fabulous business of preparing a nursery for our little man. and yes, i might have already purchased some of these items. because, look how amazing!

we are planning to transition elinor to a big girl space before her baby brother arrives so that she feels like she gets an upgrade and is promoted to the official big girl that she is. we have a lovely vintage bed for her as well as a beautiful antique settee from ben's family that we are going to refinish and recover to serve as a fancy reading nook for miss E. i am excited to spruce up her room and use some of our favorite pieces from her nursery mixed with fresh items that make her feel extra sophisticated and special. new sheets and drapes and decorative bits! eep!

once we get elinor all set up, we are planning to move her crib into ridley's room and then go crazy! i am going for a retro-restoration-hardware-vintage-sports-plaid-old-school-british-manly-man-sophisticated look. a dash of outdoors. a dash of european. a dash of americana. memorabilia and antiques. refined and strong, with plenty of cozy. i am so looking forward to spending hours and hours together with our little prince in his special space.
