a fresh year with fresh plans
okay, lets talk resolutions. i am not so good at the traditional resolutions thing. i have done it in the past but i usually cheat and keep it too easy or manageable to ensure that i can check it off the list. {i have problems, people. a compulsive need to cross stuff off the list}
this year, hubby and i decided to sit down together and do this thing. for real. together. we compiled a wish list of everything from little to large. and gosh darn it, we are going to do it! this will be a year of joy and peace and contentment and intention. we want to be present. to enjoy the moment. to be content with our life. we are going to savor. as thoreau, we want to go into the woods, if you will. "to live deliberately. to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life. to put to rout all that was not life, and not, when i had come to die, discover that i had not lived."
matthew 6:25-34 will serve as the polestar of 2013.
therefore i tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. are you not of more value than they? and which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? and why are you anxious about clothing? consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,yet i tell you, even solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. but if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, o you of little faith? therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’ but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
this is a fresh year folks. ripe with possibilities. fresh, with no mistakes in it. {thank you for that one, anne shirley} and so, we walked through the areas of life and jotted down what we want to do in 2013. and yes, it will continue to grow as the year goes on. we have high hopes for you, new year.
