ponder | all things new
the problem of restoring to the world original and eternal beauty is solved by the redemption of the soul.

woah.
let that sink in.
us beings crave beauty. we seek it out. we create it. we strive to restore.
but, how do we go about this?
too often, we try to take on to-do's and tasks. we reduce, reuse, recycle. we save the whales or seals or chickens. we hug trees. we drink water out of glass bottles. we tote our reusable shopping bags. we drive cars that run on used cooking oil or refuse or air or whatever. we plant trees. we save the bees.
you get me.
and while these actions are worthwhile and valuable as we are called to steward this earth, value its resources, use wisely and replenish, care for... these actions alone miss the mark. they are peripheral. the heart of it all is the heart. people. souls.
redemption of the soul.
our time should be spent on souls. pointing people to the Throne. to the One who renovates hearts. when death dies, all things live. the darkness of death must be stripped away. and when life comes, the newness is beautiful. it is inspiring. it is effectual. it is irresistible. the rest begins to be enlightened and refreshed. that new soul, that redeemed soul begins to actively pursue things of beauty. that soul begins to take part in the grand work of renewal.
may i keep my focus on the things that matter. may my heart be set on the things of eternal weight. may i be used greatly for His glory.
and he who was seated on the throne said, “behold, i am making all things new.”
also he said, “write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
